5 Common Kitchen Ingredients You Could Use in Your Beauty Routine

Make It Classy Team

Maybe you’ve been wanting to add new plant-based products to your beauty routine but you’re afraid of wasting money or can’t find the right products with the natural ingredients you desire. Well, it turns out that you don’t have to look any further than your own kitchen! Here are five ingredients commonly found in the kitchen, along with their benefits, that you can utilize to create your own all-natural beauty products at home:

Avocados

From your toast to your face and hair, avocados are good for it all! You can mash up avocados and mix with a couple other ingredients such as honey, bananas, or egg yolk to create a homemade face mask, face moisturizer, or even a hair mask. This creamy fruit acts as a very effective moisturizer and has anti-aging antioxidants to give you a soft, youthful appearance. It also softens and strengthens hair while getting rid of frizz and dry scalp.

Honey

Honey is used as a base for various beauty products, so there are many options for how to utilize this ingredient for your DIY beauty routine. Honey also has anti-aging properties, as well as the ability to exfoliate, prevent acne, and brighten skin. Honey is also used in a lot of lip products because it is good for treating chapped lips. In terms of your hair, honey helps with hair growth and with giving you that shiny appearance. Use honey for hair masks, skin moisturizer, or lip balm.

Oats

In addition to a delicious breakfast, oats are good for exfoliation, preventing dry skin, and treating acne. They can be used in scrubs, oatmeal milk baths, or body bars, such as our Loving Liz Exfoliating Body Bar. Oats can also serve as a natural hair cleanser and helps with dandruff and dry scalp when combined with other ingredients.

Sugar

Sugar is typically used in scrubs, serving as a great topical exfoliator. It effectively clears away dead skin cells, leaving your skin with that healthy glowing appearance. Majestic Maya Matcha Body Scrub and Sweet Sofia Pink Grapefruit Body Scrub use sugar as the main component.

Cucumbers

You may have heard about cucumbers being used for face masks. This is because cucumbers are known for improving collagen, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, fighting acne, and they are a great source of antioxidants. Cucumbers can be blended with honey, a banana, and some lemon juice for a soothing, rejuvenating face mask.
