How to Use a Solid Shampoo Bar and Its Benefits

Make It Classy Team

Have you heard about shampoo bars? They’re a more sustainable option for washing your hair while accomplishing everything regular shampoo does. They're also a great option if you're looking for a natural shampoo. Read on to learn what exactly a shampoo bar is, why it’s a more sustainable option, and how to use one.

What is a solid shampoo bar?

Shampoo bars are simply your typical liquid shampoo but in the form of a solid bar. They are a natural hair cleanser. The results depend on your specific hair type and its needs, but typically, solid shampoo bars are better for the health of your hair. They are usually made with more natural ingredients than liquid shampoo and therefore do not strip your hair of healthy oils.

Why are solid shampoo bars a more sustainable option than liquid shampoo?

Liquid shampoos are typically found in plastic bottles. If you make the switch to shampoo bars, you reduce your plastic usage significantly.

How do you use a shampoo bar?

There are two common ways to use a solid shampoo bar. You can either rub the bar directly onto your hair, or you can create a foamy lather on your hands then use that to cleanse your hair. Either way, your hair must be thoroughly wet all the way to your roots in order to get the best results.

If you choose to do the first method, you must rub the bar directly onto your scalp down to the ends of your hair in a gentle combing motion until a lather forms. Add water as you go. It is important to rub from top to bottom in a straight combing motion rather than a swirling pattern to prevent tangles. Then make sure you thoroughly rinse until there is absolutely no residue left.

For the second method, you can use your wet hands to create a lather and just use that foam to wash your hair. Rub lather into your scalp and down the length of your hair, similar to how you would with liquid shampoo. Again, make sure you rinse really well afterward.

With natural shampoo bars, you are able to wash your hair as often as every day without drying or harming your scalp or hair.

Look out for our new products launching May 3rd! One of them may or may not be a natural shampoo bar. 😉
