Plant-Based Ingredients for Sensitive Skin

Make It Classy Team

We know the struggles and fears that come with trying new beauty brands to find the right fit, especially when you have sensitive skin. Therefore, we thought a good way to help you out is to create a list of ingredients to look for in beauty products that have a very low chance of making your skin react negatively. (Of course, this may vary per person, but these ingredients are plant-based, so they shouldn’t be harsh on most skin types.)

Here are our top recommendations when it comes to looking for plant-based ingredients for sensitive skin.

Aloe Vera

This is probably one of the most commonly known ingredients for sensitive skin, and rightfully so because it has numerous benefits. Aloe vera helps reduce inflammation and hydrate the skin, it is a good source of antioxidants and vitamins that protect your skin from harmful particles, it tightens your pores, and it improves skin elasticity, thus reducing wrinkles and acne.

Kaolin Clay

Being the most gentle among all types of clays used for face masks and various forms of skincare, kaolin clay helps control oiliness, serves as a natural detoxification and exfoliation agent, soothes rashes and irritation, and tones your skin.

Green Tea

Another commonly known ingredient, green tea has anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties and therefore fights against signs of aging, as well as several types of irritation in the skin. Green tea is also full of Vitamin B2 and Vitamin E, which is beneficial for maintaining overall healthy skin.

Chamomile

Chamomile contains protective antioxidants, which make this ingredient extremely calming, soothing, and useful when treating irritated skin.

Oats

You can use oats on your skin to relieve dryness and irritation, as well as soaking up excess moisture to help treat acne while cleansing your skin and pores.

Witch Hazel

Extracts contain antioxidant compounds that help protect skin from the sun, stop your skin from producing excessive oil, and reduce acne.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is often recommended to those with sensitive skin because of its anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Products with this ingredient typically leave your skin feeling soothed and rejuvenated.

These are only some plant-based ingredients that are extra beneficial for sensitive skin, but make sure to look for these on the back of your skin care products next time you’re looking for some that hopefully won’t lead to yet another frustrating purchase!
